The amendments to Bill HB 2182 allow highway construction and maintenance vehicles to be equipped with flashing or revolving green lights, in addition to the yellow lights already permitted. This change, determined by department regulations in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, aims to enhance the visibility of these vehicles, making it safer for motorists and workers on the road. The bill also establishes that temporary regulations can be implemented quickly, expediting the rollout of these new safety measures. Overall, this amendment matters because it could improve safety for both highway workers and drivers.
