The recent amendments to Bill SB 538 introduce new definitions for different types of medical marijuana products, specifically categorizing them as "edible" and "non-edible" infused products. This change clarifies what forms of medical marijuana are legally acceptable for use, distinguishing between those meant for ingestion, like gummies and tinctures, and those intended for topical use, such as creams and patches. This matters because it provides clearer guidelines for patients and caregivers, ensuring safer and more accurate use of medical marijuana. Additionally, it helps regulatory bodies establish specific rules for each product category, making it easier to manage patient care.
