Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to Bill SB 971 includes changes aimed at enhancing parental and employee notification regarding weapon incidents in schools. Notably, it clarifies that schools must inform parents and staff about violations related to weapons based on both state laws and the governing policies set by the school districts themselves. This change is important as it ensures that school communities are better informed about safety incidents, fostering a more aware and prepared environment for both parents and school personnel.
