Plain-language change summary

The bill SB 2139 has been updated to establish a new structure for the Fox Valley Park District, changing from a board of 6 appointed trustees to a board of 7 elected commissioners. Notably, the amendments also outline the process for drawing single-member electoral districts, requiring them to be compact and contiguous while respecting county boundaries. This change matters because it directly impacts how local leaders are chosen, giving residents a more direct say in their representation and enhancing accountability in the governance of the park district.
