Plain-language change summary

The updated bill SB 3146 now requires that the Director of Public Health can be either a licensed physician or someone with administrative experience in public health. If the Director is not a physician, a Medical Director must be appointed who will be a licensed physician and responsible for key regulatory areas like healthcare facility regulation and disease response. This change is important because it ensures that the leadership in public health can include professionals with diverse backgrounds while still having a qualified physician in a prominent role to guide health issues.
