Plain-language change summary

The amended bill SB 646 now increases the number of non-traditional instructional days from five to 10. This change allows schools greater flexibility in handling closures due to emergencies or bad weather while ensuring that instructional time for students is still prioritized. Additionally, the amendment clarifies how terms like "co-curricular activities" and "instruction delivered through alternative methods" are defined, helping to standardize procedures for education during unexpected circumstances. This matters because it aims to improve educational consistency and support for students despite disruptions.
