The amendments to Bill AB 994 update the educational requirements for building contractors seeking a certificate of financial responsibility. Notably, the term "live virtual" instruction has been changed to "online" for flexibility in how courses can be taken. This matters because it allows contractors to complete the necessary training in a more accessible manner, potentially leading to more individuals qualifying for building permits. Additionally, a requirement for ongoing education will ensure contractors stay informed about important changes in construction laws and best practices.
