Plain-language change summary

The bill SB 449 has been amended to allow air rifles and rimfire rifles on school buses only when students are traveling to or from school-sponsored shooting events. It also specifies that these firearms must be stored securely in a locked case and kept in a designated area on the bus, ensuring they are inaccessible to students at other times. This change aims to enhance safety while still accommodating school shooting teams, reflecting a balance between supporting extracurricular activities and maintaining a secure environment for students.
