The recent amendment to Bill HB 3515 increases the number of principal supervisors that the superintendent of the West Virginia State Police can appoint from 19 to 20. This change allows for added leadership within the police force, which could improve its effectiveness in managing operations. Additionally, it maintains the structure for appointing temporary ranks and ensures that officers still have opportunities for promotions despite temporary appointments. Overall, these adjustments seek to enhance the functioning and overall management of the State Police.
