Plain-language change summary

The updated version of House Bill 1497 enhances the rules for telephone solicitations. It now requires callers to clearly identify themselves, their organization, and the purpose of the call right at the beginning, and also gives the recipient the option to continue or end the call within the first 30 seconds. This change is significant because it aims to give consumers more control over unsolicited calls, potentially reducing unwanted interruptions and improving transparency in telemarketing practices. Additionally, it ensures that if a recipient wishes to disconnect, the caller must comply quickly.
