Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to SB 6560 clarifies the definition of "retirement facility" by specifying that it includes not just nursing homes and assisted living facilities, but also affordable housing options for seniors. This change is important because it broadens the types of accommodations that can potentially support postsecondary students, allowing more flexible housing solutions during a time when housing affordability is a significant issue. By studying these options, the state aims to help both students and older adults, potentially reducing social isolation and improving living conditions for both groups.
