Plain-language change summary

The Senate Bill SB 179 has been updated to enhance the coordination of services for preadmission screening and discharge planning in Virginia's community services boards. The changes emphasize the role of these boards in collaborating with various local agencies to ensure that individuals receiving emergency mental health services have the necessary support both before and after treatment. This matters because improved coordination can lead to better outcomes for individuals in need of mental health services and ensure smooth transitions from hospital to community settings.
