What changed in the latest version
1 added · 1 removedPlain-language change summary
The recent amendment to Bill SB 5603 simplifies the enrollment process for children of military families. Originally, school districts were required to accept enrollment applications conditionally, pending proof of residence, but the updated version mandates that all applications must be accepted electronically without conditions, making it easier for military families to enroll their children. Additionally, the timeframe for providing proof of residence was reduced from fourteen days to ten days after the family's arrival date, which could help expedite their transition into new schools. These changes aim to support military families by reducing barriers to education access during relocations.
