The amended version of Bill SB 142 introduces clearer definitions and processes related to teacher licensure in Virginia. Notably, it specifies the types of licenses available, including a "local eligibility license," which allows individuals to teach for up to one year while completing additional coursework. This change is important because it creates more flexible pathways for teachers to enter the profession, potentially addressing teacher shortages and ensuring that students have access to qualified educators.
