The recent amendment to HB 115 updates the petition process for appointing guardians and conservators in Virginia. Key changes include allowing any person or local/state agency to file a petition and requiring more detailed information about the respondent's relatives. This matters because it broadens the eligibility to file a petition and ensures that the court has comprehensive information about the respondent's family, which can help in making better-informed decisions regarding their care.
