Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill SB 613 includes new language that clarifies the authority of governing boards at educational institutions to establish their own campus security departments and hire security personnel. This means that schools can now officially set up their own security systems rather than solely depending on local or state police or existing campus police departments. This change is important because it empowers schools to tailor security measures to their specific needs and environments, which can enhance safety for students and staff.
