Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to Bill SB 5705 expands the eligibility criteria for the Washington Opportunity Scholarship Program to include students accepted into advanced degree programs, specifically health professional degrees. This change is significant because it opens up financial support to a broader range of students pursuing higher education, particularly in high-demand health professions, ensuring that more individuals can access essential educational pathways and help address workforce shortages in these critical fields. Additionally, the amendments clarify how funds from various sources are to be managed, which could enhance transparency and accountability in the scholarship program.
