What changed in the latest version

The updated version of Bill SB 293 adds provisions that allow schools to keep glucagon, a medication for severe low blood sugar, on hand for students with diabetes and outlines the conditions under which it can be administered. It specifies that school staff can administer this medication in good faith during emergencies, ensuring that they must then notify emergency services, the school nurse, and the student's family. These changes matter because they aim to improve the safety and health management of students with diabetes while at school, ensuring they receive timely care when needed.
