Plain-language change summary

The recent changes to Bill HB 233 adjust the criteria for determining "eligible sites" for economic development grants in Virginia. Previously, a site needed to be at least 100 contiguous acres or classified as a brownfield to qualify. Now, the threshold has been lowered to just 50 contiguous acres, which allows more properties to be considered for these grants, particularly in regions where viable sites are scarce. This adjustment is significant as it could boost economic development opportunities in areas that face challenges in site availability.
