Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill SB 5253 includes clarifications and enhancements regarding the usage of "van accessible" parking spots specifically for individuals who require wheelchairs or mobility devices. Notably, it establishes that unauthorized use of these spaces will incur penalties, emphasizing that only vehicles equipped for mobility assistance can park in those designated areas. This change is significant as it aims to ensure that those who genuinely need accessible parking receive it, thereby improving access for individuals with disabilities.
