The recent amendment to SB 594 primarily clarifies the definition of "drug" by aligning it with the specific definition found in another section of West Virginia law. Additionally, it specifies that certain health insurance provisions apply to Health Savings Account-qualified High Deductible Health Plans after individuals meet the minimum deductibles set by the federal Internal Revenue Code. This change is important because it ensures consistency in how drugs are defined and provides clear guidelines for insurance coverage, potentially impacting how preventive care is accessed under these plans. Overall, these adjustments aim to promote clearer understanding and better alignment with federal regulations.
