Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to Bill SB 784 update the rules for retired judges and justices in Virginia regarding their ability to practice law. Specifically, the bill allows retired judges to represent indigent clients pro bono after a two-year waiting period, provided they are not affiliated with a legal aid organization. This change is significant as it opens up opportunities for retired judges to offer their expertise to those who cannot afford legal assistance while ensuring there are safeguards in place to prevent conflicts of interest.
