The amendment to SB 958 clarifies the process for the Attorney General to join a petition for a writ of actual innocence by specifying that the Attorney General must provide written notice to the local attorney for the Commonwealth in the jurisdiction of the conviction before joining the petition. It also removes some redundant wording about filing and moving for a bail hearing. These changes streamline the legal language and clarify the roles of the parties involved in the petition process, which may help facilitate quicker resolutions.
