The Senate version of HB 2208 has made several updates to strengthen the state's anti-discrimination policies. Notably, it now emphasizes the importance of protecting a broader range of characteristics—such as military status and disability—against discrimination in public accommodations, like schools and housing. This change is significant as it aims to promote a more inclusive environment and ensures that individuals are safeguarded from unjust treatment in various aspects of public life. Additionally, the Senate version clarifies procedures for filing discrimination complaints, enhancing the support for individuals who face discrimination.
