The amendment to Bill HB 1369 clarifies the rules surrounding installment agreements for tax payments in Virginia. It requires the Tax Commissioner to offer a written agreement for taxpayers who apply, allowing them to pay their tax liabilities over five years if it helps facilitate collection. Additionally, the amendment streamlines some language to ensure clarity about the conditions under which agreements may be terminated. This change matters because it may provide taxpayers with more accessible options for managing their tax payments, helping them avoid financial stress while ensuring the state can collect owed taxes effectively.
