Plain-language change summary

The revised version of SB 1127 now directs the Department of Housing and Community Development to create a work group focused on protecting vulnerable tenants, specifically children and elderly individuals with disabilities, when landlords attempt to terminate rental agreements. This change is significant because it emphasizes a broader focus on studying the issue and developing comprehensive recommendations before any legislative action, rather than immediately mandating notification of the Department of Social Services as previously proposed. It aims to enhance tenant protections and reduce the risk of displacement for these vulnerable groups.
