What changed in the latest version

The latest version of Senate Bill 1382 has added new sections that explicitly prohibit the purchase, possession, sale, and transfer of assault firearms and certain large-capacity ammunition devices. These changes aim to strengthen gun control laws in Virginia, making penalties more clear for those who violate these regulations. This matters because it addresses public safety concerns and reflects a legislative push to regulate firearms more strictly in response to rising gun violence.
