The updated version of SB 1003 includes a specific mandate that health insurance providers must cover hearing aids and related services for children aged 18 and younger. This coverage will allow for one hearing aid per ear every 24 months and will include necessary accessories such as earmolds and initial batteries. This change is significant because it ensures that families of children with hearing impairments have better access to necessary medical devices without facing the financial burden that often comes with them.
