The amended bill SJ 19 now explicitly extends the property tax exemption to the surviving spouses of armed forces members who died in the line of duty, not only those killed in action. Additionally, it grants these surviving spouses the ability to move without losing their tax exemption, as long as the property remains their primary residence and they do not remarry. This change is significant as it provides greater support and flexibility to veterans' families, honoring their sacrifice and making it easier for them to manage their living situations without the burden of taxes.
