Plain-language change summary

The updated version of HB 1374 clarifies that individuals harmed by human trafficking can seek legal action without needing a prior charge or conviction for the crimes involved. This change ensures that survivors have the opportunity to pursue justice and recover damages, even if law enforcement has not taken action against the offenders. This is significant because it empowers victims and recognizes the complexities often involved in trafficking cases, helping them to seek the support they need.
