Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to Bill HB 1422 change the requirements for applying for a concealed handgun permit in Virginia. Specifically, the revised law removes the need for applicants to have been a resident of the county or city for a certain length of time, and it clarifies that the application only needs to gather essential information. These changes make it easier for individuals, including military members stationed outside Virginia, to apply for a permit, which could lead to more people being able to legally carry concealed firearms.
