The recent amendments to Bill SB 801 clarified the list of organizations and positions considered "conservators of the peace" in Virginia. Notably, it removed references to certain federal departments and added others, ensuring that military criminal investigative organizations and specific federal agents are recognized. This change is significant because it reflects a more accurate representation of law enforcement roles and their authority in Virginia, potentially impacting how law enforcement collaborates across different agencies.
