The recent amendment to Bill HB 2467 changed the information required for firearm purchase applications in Virginia by eliminating the need for applicants to provide their citizenship and social security numbers. Instead, it now focuses on gathering relevant personal details like name, date of birth, and gender while ensuring applicants consent to a criminal history check. This change is significant because it aims to streamline the application process while addressing privacy concerns, potentially making it easier for law-abiding citizens to purchase firearms legally.
