Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill SB 997 makes a small but significant adjustment regarding the Oyster Replenishment Fund in Virginia. It clarifies that the method for distributing funds for encouraging oyster shell donations will be determined by the Commission, potentially making the process more streamlined. Additionally, it ensures that the Commission may award grants specifically for these donations, which could incentivize more individuals to participate in replenishing oyster populations. These changes matter because they enhance the state's ability to support and grow its oyster population, benefiting the environment and local economies.
