Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to the Virginia Self-Service Storage Act clarify how storage facility owners must notify tenants when they are in default on their rental agreements. The key change allows for the option of electronic notification in addition to traditional mail, and the rules now specify that if someone has valuable personal property, such as a watercraft, additional procedures must be followed before that property can be sold. This change matters because it modernizes communication methods and enhances protections for tenants with high-value goods, ensuring they are adequately informed before any drastic actions are taken.
