The updated version of Bill HB 50 now specifies that the Department of Social Services must create a toll-free, 24-hour hotline dedicated to providing information about safe haven laws for infant relinquishment in Virginia. Additionally, the bill emphasizes the need for a public awareness campaign to promote both the hotline and the laws surrounding infant relinquishment. This change is important because it enhances access to critical information for parents who may be in distress, ensuring they have resources and options available to them.
