The recent amendment to Bill SB 596 ensures that students participating in 4-H educational programs are not counted as absent from school, allowing them to earn course credit just as they would on a field trip. Additionally, schools can set their own limits on how many days students can be involved in 4-H activities without affecting their attendance record. This change is important because it encourages students to engage in valuable extracurricular programs while managing their academic responsibilities.
