Plain-language change summary

The amendments to Bill SB 429 introduce a public safety mobile application that connects users to mental health resources, specifically the 988 Suicide Prevention Lifeline, while ensuring user confidentiality. The bill now requires the Department of State Police to develop this app to allow individuals to report criminal activities securely, including bullying and school violence. Additionally, it empowers the Secretaries of Health and Education to promote the mental health services more actively through existing channels. These changes enhance public safety by encouraging the reporting of threats and simultaneously providing vital mental health support.
