The recent amendments to HB 355 update transparency requirements for public higher education institutions in Virginia. The bill now mandates that schools publish their freshman-to-sophomore retention rates and details on tuition and fee increases over the past decade. This change is important as it provides current and prospective students with essential information about institutional performance and financial trends, helping them make more informed decisions about their education. Additionally, the budget summary requirement enhances accountability by giving insight into how institutions allocate their funds.
