Plain-language change summary

The proposed changes to SB 751 establish the Standardized Health Care Academy Program intended to provide training opportunities for high school students interested in health care careers. Notably, the eligibility criteria have been refined; students can now start preparing as early as sixth grade, rather than eighth grade. Additionally, there are clearer guidelines for tuition coverage—schools must now pay tuition for ineligible students directly using state funds. These adjustments are important as they aim to better connect students to career pathways and ensure they have the support needed to pursue health care professions.
