The recent amendment to Bill SB 34 allows drivers in Virginia to present electronic versions of their driver's licenses and vehicle registration instead of only physical copies. This change is significant because it acknowledges the growing use of technology and makes it easier for people to provide proof of their identity and vehicle registration during interactions with law enforcement. In addition, the amendment maintains the penalties for not carrying these credentials while ensuring that individuals can still fulfill obligations even if they forgot their physical documents. Overall, this update modernizes the law and helps improve convenience for drivers.
