Plain-language change summary

The amended version of House Bill 1588 simplifies the requirements for ambulance drivers in rural areas that do not provide advanced life support. Now, drivers can operate an ambulance without prior medical training, as long as they are at least 18 years old, pass a background check, have a valid driver's license, and are accompanied by a qualified emergency medical technician during patient transport. This change is significant as it allows for more flexibility in staffing and could improve emergency response times in areas facing personnel shortages.
