The amended text of § 19.2-56 of the Code of Virginia clarifies that a search warrant must show the date and time of issuance, and it specifies that a copy of the affidavit is to be included with the warrant when served. This ensures that anyone receiving the search warrant also has access to the information that justified its issuance, potentially enhancing transparency in the search process. The amendment also maintains the requirement that the warrant must indicate probable cause for the search based on the affidavit.
