The updated version of the bill SB 193 clarifies exemptions from child day program licensing in Virginia. Notably, it specifies that certain programs for children under six will not require a license if they meet specific attendance criteria, such as not exceeding 25 days in three months and limiting class durations. This change matters because it provides clear guidelines for program operators and ensures that young children are not enrolled in programs that could potentially lead to regular licensed childcare requirements, fostering more accessible learning opportunities.
