The amendment updates § 46.2-889 of the Code of Virginia regarding the location of parked vehicles. The changes specify that vehicles can now be stopped close to and parallel to the left curb or left edge of the roadway, which was previously allowed only on one-way streets. Additionally, it clarifies that local governments in Planning District 8 may enact ordinances to prohibit parking with wheels on or straddling the curb. This matters as it provides clearer guidelines for parking regulations and enforcement in that area.
