Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to HB 1237 clarifies the definition of "trust business" in Virginia law by specifying that it includes actions where a person or entity publicly advertises their fiduciary services. Additionally, certain activities, such as providing legal services or acting as a trustee in bankruptcy, are explicitly excluded from being categorized as trust business. These changes are significant because they help define when a company must comply with regulations governing fiduciary responsibilities, ensuring that both consumers and professionals understand the boundaries of trust services.
