The revised version of House Bill 1853 clarifies that vehicles registered under a specific category, those weighing less than 10,001 pounds, will now be subject to a license service fee of 50 cents. Additionally, it specifies that the revenue from both the license plate technology fee and the license service fee will be deposited into the Move Ahead WA account. These changes are significant because they ensure that certain smaller vehicles contribute to a dedicated fund for transportation improvements, thereby supporting statewide infrastructure projects.
