The amendments made to Bill SB 657 involve both the addition and repeal of specific sections within the Code of Virginia. Notably, new sections were added regarding the authority and responsibilities of environmental boards and oversight, particularly in relation to air and water quality. Additionally, some previously existing sections were repealed to streamline regulations associated with the Air Pollution Control Board and the State Water Control Board. These changes matter because they aim to improve environmental governance and clarify the regulatory framework for handling air and water pollution.
