The amendment clarifies that a purchaser or borrower has the right to choose their real estate settlement agent, and it specifies that a seller cannot mandate a particular agent for the sale of the property. Additionally, it maintains that a seller can hire a licensed attorney to represent their interests in the settlement process. This matters because it reinforces the rights of buyers and sellers in real estate transactions regarding the selection of settlement services and legal representation.
