The amendments to the bill clarify the timing and terms for the election of the mayor and council members in the Town of Victoria. The elections for council members are now specifically set for November, rather than in May, starting in 2022. This change matters because it aligns the local elections with a broader general election schedule, potentially increasing voter turnout and ensuring that local officials are elected at the same time as other important races. Additionally, the wording has been updated to refer to "council members" instead of "councilmen," making it more inclusive.
